Argentinean guitar player, Lito
Epumer founded his first band "Madre Atomica" with Mono Fontana
and Pedro Aznar in 1975. He played with many differents
styles like Luis Alberto Spinetta (Spinetta Jade),
Lito Vitale (quartet), Rubén Rada, Alfredo
Casero (Halibour Fiberglass Sereneiders), Fatorusso brothers
(Hugo & Osvaldo), and Dino Saluzzi in Argentina and the
Allem Young Blood Quartet when he lived at Los Angeles (USA).
He also colaborated sharing stages,
live shows and / or recordings with Alphonso Johnson, Raul
Carnota, Horacio Larumbe, Javier Malosetti,
Fernando Kabusacki, Pedro Aznar among many
others.
In 1999 he finally taked the "Rio
de la Plata" rhythms impront and made his first european tour in Italy, after
this he come back every year, now not only to Italy,
including Austria and Switzerland with his
quintet featuring Gustavo Liamgot (keyboards/accordion),
Cristian Judurcha (drums), Mario Gusso (percussion),
Fausto Beccalossi (accordion special guest). His last CD "Dos
Zorros" ("Two foxes", Epumer means "two foxes" in the original mapuche
language of his ranquel indean roots) have one very special guest: the argentinian
music idol Luis Alberto Spinetta and was produced by Pedro Aznar (Pat
Metheny) whom also
played in some tracks.
His musical approach runs the
pathways of the so called "argentinean jazz", a place where local folk music
and "candombe" gather with a contemporaneous and personal outlook.
Epumer's compositions bear elements related to jazz harmony and improvisation,
but in fact his work "looks inwards" and incorporates a sound that is
identified with its origins and Motherland.
Since January, 2008, he is playing too, with
PwR3
(a power trio with Machi Rufino on bass
and Cristian Judurcha on drums).
as guitar player & main composer.
